Vision
Gay & Lesbian Across Down (GLAD) aims to engage with & improve the quality of
life of lesbian, gay & bisexual people living in or visiting County Down.
Aims
- To provide appropriate, sustainable & safe opportunities for social networking
and self help support.
- To involve & support people from the groups mentioned above in raising
awareness, lobbying, advocacy & campaigning for policy change.
- To develop & maintain relationships with other organisations, funding bodies,
community & statutory sectors.
We are primarily a social network for lesbian, gay & bisexual people whilst also
working with bodies such as the police to deal with important issues such as
hate crime.
History
GLAD was established in March 2007 with the initial aim to cover North Down &
Ards. The group was the relaunched with a new name , vision & a wider range of
services accross County Down in March 2008.
Volunteering
GLAD is run entirely bu volunteers who meet monthly to plan future events &
activities.
We are always keen to attract new volunteers & will make an effort to match your
skills & interests to our needs.
Funding
GLAD is greatful for funding provided by the Police Service Of Northern Ireland,
North Down Borough Council, North Down District Policing Partnership and South
Eastern Health & Social Care Trust.
